For everyone that wishes to enjoy a wide range of Community Events, Skagway has it all. Throughout the year our small community (population 1036 in 2014 census estimate) puts on a host of events with the help of many Skagway volunteers!

Celebrate Yuletide all month long in beautiful Skagway, Alaska! The festivities kick off on Friday, December 1 as Santa arrives downtown on a fire truck illuminated with holiday decorations to switch on the tree lights. Other highlights include a holiday craft bazaar, fabric arts show, photos with Santa, caroling, live music and a free train ride! The Buckwheat Ski Classic is a cross country ski race held on the fourth Saturday in March on the Log Cabin Ski Trails. There are 50K, 25K and 10 K adult races, as well as a 5K for kids 12 and under. Online registration begins in January on the race website.Find out more »
Our July 4th celebration has been history making since Soapy Smith rode at the head of our first parade in 1898. Old fashioned family fun day with races, contests, and events for all to enjoy. Events include Slow Bike race, Pie Eating contest, Horseshoe Tournament and Egg Toss.Find out more »
