Writer Liz Seaton, Esq., a longtime advocate for LGBTQ civil rights, will share ideas and excerpts from her book-in-progress: ‘The Angie Zapata Case: Protecting Transgender Life in U.S. Law’. You’ll hear about 18-year-old Angie, killed for being transgender, and the secret backstory about her trial. It involves a “Tea Party” prosecutor, talented trial attorneys, and a jury consultant hired by the National Center for Lesbian Rights to carry transgender case lessons and jury selection methods to Greeley, Colorado, to help secure justice for Angie and the Zapata family. That same year, Angie’s case helped Congress pass a new law.
Preceded by short reading of new poems by Jeffery Brady.
