Day Trips
Experience the rush! Skagway’s visitors are continuously amazed at the variety of activities available in our little town. If you only have a day in Skagway, quite frankly, you might want to plan a longer trip! Once you discover the possibilities, you will understand why a day in Skagway will simply leave you wanting more.
Opportunity for Adventurers
The historic Chilkoot Trail is the ultimate adventure. Originally used as a trading route by the Tlingit people, the 33 mile long trail is now the longest outdoor museum in the world. Day visitors can explore the lower part of the trail independently or take a tour to hike up the first few miles, then float down the Taiya River to the wilderness area of Dyea. Other adrenaline-based tours include ziplining, rock climbing, bike tours & ocean rafting adventures.
Entertaining the armchair explorer
Like your adventure a bit more laid back? The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad offers a breathtaking journey up the White Pass of the Coastal Mountain Range onboard their narrow-gauge railroad. Bus & van tours venture up the mountain pass, into the Yukon where you can explore the millennia old village of Carcross.
Romancing the Art Lover
Be inspired by the artistic talents of Skagway’s creative community. Seek out locally created artwork at Skagway’s many galleries & look for the Made in Skagway, Made in Alaska and Native made symbols to know you are buying items created in Alaska & the Yukon. The Days of 98 Show is a must see for the art lover. This vaudeville style musical started back in 1923 as a fundraiser for the local hockey team and has been entertaining visitors & locals ever since.
