Family Vacation
Parents have a tough job. Let’s face it, you DESERVE a vacation! How do you plan a family vacation without making it another chore? Let the team at the Skagway Visitor Center help you find the perfect activities for you and your family members of all ages!
Take a tour
Kid friendly tours abound in Skagway. Try your hand at gold panning and see if you strike it rich. Experience the rush of flying through the rainforest on a zipline or travel back in time with a horseback ride through the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park to the wilderness area of Dyea.
Adventure tours are always a hit with the teen set. Adrenaline will be racing as you bike down the Coastal Mountain pass. Ready to hit the water? Rafting the Taiya River or paddle a glacially fed lake and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Discover Skagway on your own
Explore Pullen Creek’s stroller friendly stream walk & learn about area wildlife with fun interactive signs along the path. Be sure to keep an eye out for returning salmon in the stream late July and early August.
Kids of all ages can earn a Junior Ranger badge by delving into Skagway’s Gold Rush history with the interactive displays at the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Museums
Hiking trails are easily accessible off the downtown area. Skagway’s trails range from short level hikes to waterfront views to multi day adventures on the Chilkoot Trail. Ask our knowledgeable staff about which trail is right for your family.
Parents can relax while the little ones burn off energy at Mollie Walsh Park Playground. Bring take out from one of Skagway’s restaurants and enjoy a picnic in the park.
Be sure to experience a Skagway family favorite before you head home. People watching while eating ice cream or a sweet treat on one of the benches along Broadway is something we all love to do.
